We utilize an eclectic approach to treatment as we understand that each individual is unique and every situation, problem and issue is not necessarily alike and we understand that one therapeutic approach does not work for all. Subsequently, we work with our patients and family (when applicable) to ensure the most efficacious treatment is provided based on identified problems, issues and needs.
Our treatment recommendations usually include some type of psychotherapy (non-medication treatment) after your first appointment (if needed). Sometimes (but not always) when we are working on your treatment plan together we might decide a combination of treatments (non-medication and medication treatment) might be most beneficial. In these situations, we will work closely with your PCP or assist you in getting an appointment with an appropriate medical specialist (Psychiatrist, Neurologist, etc.) that will meet your medical needs.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) focuses on dysfunctional emotions, maladaptive behaviors and cognitive processes. We assist the patient in identifying current negative beliefs, evaluate how they affect current and future behavior, and attempt to assist the patient in restructuring their beliefs and change their outlook.
Psychodynamic akaInsight Oriented Therapy occurs in thecontext of a well grounded therapeutic relationship between the patient and therapist. This approach focuses on past unresolved conflicts and relationships and the impact they have on a patient's current situation. I
Problem Solving Therapy is used to assist the patient in defining their problems, develop viable solutions for each problem, and then assist in selecting, implementing, and evaluating the best solutions.
Behavioral Therapy is a therapeutic approach that is often used to encourage positive behaviors and decrease negative behaviors.
Social Skills Therapyis a form of behavior therapy used to help patients (often children and adolescents) who have difficulty relating to others (often peers). It involves the therapist assisting the patient learn skills that help to build and maintain positive relationships.
Behavioral Activation is an approach used to raise a patient's awareness of pleasant activities with a goal of increasing positive interactions between the patient and his or her environment.
Interpersonal Psychotherapy is a short and highly structured therapeutic using a various techniques including self help tools (such as workbooks) to focus on interpersonal issues associated with anxiety, depression and anger etc.)
Supportive Counseling is used as a more general therapy that aims to get patients to talk about their experiences and emotions and to offer empathy without suggesting solutions or teaching new skills.

Mindfulness is a therapeutic technique used to assist the patient in focusing their attention on the present emotions, thoughts, and physical feelings that they are experiencing at the moment. This technique has been shown to reduce anxiety and stress, improve self-control, assist in coping with urges to use substances, and prevent relapse.
Cranial Electrotherapy Stimulation (CES) is a non evasive brain stimulation that applies a small, pulsed electric current across a patient's head to treat anxiety, depression, PTSD and insomnia. CES has been shown to be as effective or better than the use of medication for individual's concerned about side effects of medications used for anxiety, depression, PTSD and insomnia.
